Dental charting, referral notes, and dental financial claims are integral parts of dental practices for their smooth and effective usage. Currently, dental charting is proceeded by one of the three commonly used tooth notation systems, The Zsigmondy-Palmer, Federation Dentaire International, and American Dental Association. Although these systems have been used and adopted internationally, in practice, there is much confusion in referring to a tooth, which leads to mismanagement and eventually leads to confusion affecting the clinician-patient relationship. Hence, a growing need for a new system to make dental charting simple, secure, and void of confusion is always felt. In this experiment, we evaluated currently in use tooth notation systems and introduced three tooth numbering systems named based on the place of origin as the Herat Dentistry Faculty 1, Herat Dentistry Faculty 2, and Herat Dentistry Faculty 3 tooth notation systems. A questionnaire containing 17 questions was designed, a meeting was held with the participants where both systems were introduced, and the questionnaire was explained to them. The questionnaire was filled by a population of 481, among which 213 were randomly selected, and data were entered into SPSS. The results proved that the three newly suggested systems are more efficient in terms of learning and entering into patient files compared to traditionally in-use systems.
Background: Diabetes is a systematic disease that reduces the amount of fluid in the body and causes Xerostomia or dry mouth, which leads to dental caries. Besides, type 2 diabetes is an inflammation-related disease that negatively affects the inflammatory response to dental plaque, leading to intense periodontitis that, if untreated, results in total tooth loss.
This double-blinded RCT study was performed in two dental surgeries; Erfan Specialized Dental Clinic and Mena Oral and Dental Care Centre. In all 237 patients, selected systematically, randomized, tooth extraction was performed following the same protocols and materials before and after tooth extraction. Two types of prescriptions (one with antibiotics and one without antibiotics) were prepared in a box. After tooth extraction participants were asked to pick one prescription by chance. All data were collected and analyzed with the SPSS-25 program.
Objective: The main aims of this study were to determine the prevalence of Midline Maxillary diastema according to three common races (Tajik, Pashtoon, and Hazara), sex, and type of dental arch among 999 OPD patients in National and Specialized Stomatology Hospital, Kabul-Afghanistan. Materials and Methods: 999 patients in 15-30 years were selected by a systematic random sampling method during the seventh month. Patients were examined directly intra-orally, and information was collected by a single researcher, recorded on pre-prepared questioner forms, and then data analyzed by the SPSS. 25 software.
Background: Dental crowding, also called overcrowding, is a condition in which there is not enough space in the mouth for the steady growth of permanent teeth. Common problems that crowding can cause for a person include difficulty chewing food, speech problems, tooth decay, enamel loss, premature tooth loss, pressure on the jaws and pain, gingival resorption, and tenderness. Crowding always creates an unpleasant appearance for a person and even causes a person to be isolated from society and reduce self-confidence due to an ugly appearance. Crowding raises serious functional and aesthetic concerns for many patients.
